Who We Are
Community Church of Columbus is an inter-denominational fellowship. Our mission is "To be and make disciples of Jesus among all nations." We are a church of small groups that meet in homes throughout the week and we all gather together on Sunday mornings for worship.
Our Story
In 1990, seven believers attending Community Church of Greenwood shared a vision to plant Community Church of Columbus. These seven were led by Pastor Tom Long and established their first meeting space in the Long's home. In a few months, the church moved to IUPUC expanding both the vision and attendance of the church. In June 1993, CCC purchased their current 8.4 acres on the northeast corner of Rocky Ford and Marr Road with plans to eventually build their first church building.
Pastor Tom served through May 1994, when Chuck Coleman, associate pastor at Community Church of Greenwood, stepped in as our interim pastor before becoming CCC's full-time lead pastor in July 1995. Pastor Chuck led CCC faithfully, and helped to establish the church in the Columbus community over the next 25 years. In the spring of 1997, CCC began the construction of our first church building and celebrated the first worship service in the new facility on November 30, 1997. Over the years, CCC has expanded its facilities to include a larger worship center and lobby area, secured children's wing, and downtown counseling center.
In 2019, CCC transitioned to a teaching team approach and welcomed Mike Mantooth as our new Lead Pastor in response to Pastor Chuck's retirement. Pastor Mike and his family arrived in Columbus with a clear calling to serve at CCC. Pastor Mike brings a wealth of church leadership and missions experience to CCC. CCC continues to prioritize ministries to children and youth, investment in missions, local outreach efforts, and discipleship pathways through the platform of small groups.
We recently celebrated our 30 year anniversary and continue to experience growth in both ministry efforts and overall attendance. CCC hosts two Sunday morning worship services with a total average attendance of 1200. Community Kids welcomes children ages 0-6th grade during both Sunday morning services. Students in 7th-12th grade participate in OASIS on Sunday evenings.
